Product Description

The introduction of Grandia GD07 and GD08 cases from SilverStone ushers in a new era of home theater computing like never before. For the first time, the power and storage capacity of a server can now be neatly stowed beautifully and quietly in a home theater environment. Completely reengineered to fully utilize all available spaces, the Grandia GD07 can accommodate an incredible amount of drives (up to eleven) and high-end components (graphics cards up to 13.6 inches long) with minimal sacrifices. It is even possible to fit SSI EEB (12" x 13") extended ATX motherboards in the GD07 despite maintaining an exterior dimension similar to SilverStone's previous generation full-size HTPC cases. With a wealth of lessons learned from building the best performing tower cases in the last several years, SilverStone engineers upgraded GD07's cooling performance tremendously with up to four 120mm fan options. And to make sure owners can easily maintain their cases' cooling ability over time with the lowest noise possible, custom designed removable filters surround the case for positive pressure to work effectively and quietly.Built to hide the imperfection of I/O ports and the plethora of drives that may be installed in its four 5.25" drive bays, the GD07's lockable aluminum front door is beautifully finished with hairline brush pattern to match other home theater components. For those looking to build a powerful home media sever with security features, this is the perfect case.

  • Positive air pressure design for excellent cooling/quietness and dust-prevention
  • Support expansion cards up to 13.6 inches
  • Supports Extended ATX motherboard
  • Quick access filters to prevent dust buildup
  • Aluminum front panel with premium styling
  • Impressive storage capacity of up to twelve drive bays
  • LED indicator with adjustable brightness

When I first began looking for HTPCs, I wanted to go with a small form factor, but with lots of capability. Well, since I wanted to have room to use this as a NAS as well, small wouldn't cut it. Instead, I went with this case.

While it isn't as small as some other Silverstone cases, this doesn't deserve to be called large either. I will say it is about the size of a capable mid tower- on its side. It packs tons of room... My mini-ATX fits easily and a full size board would fit also. It has plenty of space for something like 12 hard drives (if you use the available 5.25 bays) and can easily be adapted to your liking.

It comes with usb 3.0 front headers, but if your motherboard only supports 2.0 front headers, it comes with a nice converter. Nice! I had to use that.

My Build:

Gigabyte GA-H61MA-D3V Intel H61 Micro ATX Intel N/A Micro ATX DDR3 1333 Intel LGA 1155 Motherboard
Intel G530 CPU 2.40 GHZ 2M CACHE 2.4 2 LGA 1155 Processor... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Stealth covers are horrible!!!!, January 26, 2013

This review is from: Silverstone Tek GD08B Aluminum Extended ATX / SSI-EEB / SSI-CEB HTPC Computer Case Cases - Black (Personal Computers)
I now have an extremely well-built but oversized paperweight!!

Everything fits perfectly in this case except any optical drive I tried. I tried a Samsung, an LG, and a Lite-On Blu Ray player.

They all fit in the bay fine but the eject button would not work. The placement of their plastic lever for the eject button could not connect with the eject button on the drive.

I spent several hours trying various combinations but nothing worked.

I have been building computers for well over a decade and have never had this problem. I then tried to remove the stealth cover but the drive will not fit with it's own cover in the open slot. The "stealth" cover cracked so I now have a useless paperweight that I can't return.

3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to layout components, December 22, 2012

The interior is a bit tight. Another inch in between the motherboard and front hard drive area would have helped a lot. Could not use lower 5.25 bay as a result. SATA cables are difficult to add and remove.

The aluminum is only the front face which has plastic bay doors. The remaining case is lower grade metal. It is not the type of case that can be added to and disassembled often. I would imagine the threads stripping over time.

I bought Lian Li cases in the past and have been very happy with the layout and construction. I wish I purchased one of theirs this time also.

It's not a horrible case but I believe there are better out there.

I have had it for about a month and the blue power on led burnt out already.
