Product Description
The introduction of Grandia GD07 and GD08 cases from SilverStone ushers in a new era of home theater computing like never before. For the first time, the power and storage capacity of a server can now be neatly stowed beautifully and quietly in a home theater environment. Completely reengineered to fully utilize all available spaces, the Grandia GD07 can accommodate an incredible amount of drives (up to eleven) and high-end components (graphics cards up to 13.6 inches long) with minimal sacrifices. It is even possible to fit SSI EEB (12" x 13") extended ATX motherboards in the GD07 despite maintaining an exterior dimension similar to SilverStone's previous generation full-size HTPC cases. With a wealth of lessons learned from building the best performing tower cases in the last several years, SilverStone engineers upgraded GD07's cooling performance tremendously with up to four 120mm fan options. And to make sure owners can easily maintain their cases' cooling ability over time with the lowest noise possible, custom designed removable filters surround the case for positive pressure to work effectively and quietly.Built to hide the imperfection of I/O ports and the plethora of drives that may be installed in its four 5.25" drive bays, the GD07's lockable aluminum front door is beautifully finished with hairline brush pattern to match other home theater components. For those looking to build a powerful home media sever with security features, this is the perfect case.

This case ended up being almost perfect. To the extent you care (and if you live with someone who treats your HTPC endeavor on a scale from open hostility to benign indifference, you probably do), it looks great. Clean, sharp, sleek for its size.On to the more important stuff. There's plenty of space, plenty of fans, and plenty of vents. It comes with plenty of extra screws and other goodies for wire management. The vertical locking system used for hard drives may not be new, but it was new to me. Works very well for those still rocking 3.5 inch non-SSD hard drives. Case comes with two fans on the bottom, for cooling your hard drives. That was also, for me anyway, a first. A third pre-installed fan is housed on the right side of the case, right by the CPU on my motherboard. There is room for one additional fan on... I was looking for something with "normal" sized expansion slots, something with a locking front cover that hopefully hid the power button when closed, as well as something that allowed a little more wiggle room for components, and also space for more than 4 80mm fans on the side of the case (which is all the ML03B has).I had looked past this due to one of the reviews talking about having a similar need for... It is big, granted, but for what you can fit in there, with the great airflow it has, you won't find anything better. I got it for my HTPC, and it is large, but I want to be able to upgrade as I go, adding components, and never be limited by space. It easily fits a full-size ATX motherboard, a plethora of hard drives, disk drives, plenty of room for the power supply, and the fans that come with the case are well above average for stock case fans. If you're looking for a large case to hold a powerful HTPC with great cooling so you can keep the fans down low, look no further.UPDATE: After several months of use, I am still very, very happy with this case. It is sturdy, has great airflow, the dust filters are easy to remove and clean, I appreciate the ability to dim the power LED in the front, the overall build quality is excellent. Upgrading can be a bit tedious if you have to remove the creative drive cage, but hey, if you're upgrading, you... Read more |
